Groundwater Study Program Launches Redesigned Web Site

Camp Edwards, Mass. — The Impact Area Groundwater Study Program announces the launch of its newly redesigned web site for its investigation and cleanup program at Camp Edwards on the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR). The web site address is www.groundwaterprogram.org.

The Groundwater Study Program's web site provides community members with convenient access to information on the Groundwater Study Program, its progress and findings, and future actions.

"The Groundwater Study Program generates a large amount of data and information as part of our investigation and cleanup program," said Ben Gregson, Program Manager for the Groundwater Study Program. "We want our web site to be another resource to make information about what we are finding and addressing readily available to the community."

Features of the revised site include progress reports dating back to the program's 1997 start up, fact sheets on technologies being used in the investigation, a description of the contaminants of concern, an interactive map of the primary areas of concern, and news releases on the program's findings and activities. The site also will offer a photo gallery with both historical pictures of Camp Edwards and recent photographs from the investigation.

"We will continually be updating and refining the site to improve its functionality. Our next phase will be to make the program's Administrative Record, available." Gregson added.

The Impact Area Groundwater Study Program, led by the National Guard Bureau, has been working on an investigation and cleanup of the upper 15,000 acres at Camp Edwards since 1997. The Environmental Protection Agency and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection oversee the program.
