AFCEC Installation Restoration ProgramThe Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) Installation Restoration Program (IRP) at JBCC cleans up soil and groundwater contamination resulting from historic military use of the southern portion of JBCC. Fuels, solvents, 1,4-dioxane, per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and military munitions are investigated by the IRP. The Air Force is the lead agency responsible for the IRP. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection oversee the Air Force's cleanup efforts. The Air Force also works with local and state public health officials and will continue to take response actions to eliminate exposure pathways that could put people at risk from base-related contamination. This page is used by AFCEC IRP to disseminate program information.
